Imagine a pretty and gentle hillside on a tropical Island. Set into its slopes is a quiet, friendly, family run hotel. Siesta Hotel is strategically positioned on the pretty Morne Rouge Road between the beach and shops and restaurants.
We pride ourselves that our personnel are all friendly, loyal and long serving. They will do their utmost to make your stay as welcome and homely as they can. There is always someone on hand to help you or give advice on how to make your holiday a delightful and memorable experience.
Looking out from the Siesta hillside is an enchanting experience. To the left the delights of the Grand Anse Beach attract you. Look right and the mysterious interior of Grenada draws you to explore its spectacular displays of nature. If you want a few days of peace and quiet, the Siesta setting is placid and beautiful. We have a lovely piano-shaped freshwater swimming pool. St George’s – the Capital – is the prettiest town in the Caribbean. The Carenage, a gorgeous horseshoe shaped harbour in St George’s, is surrounded by pretty buildings that cascade down the hillside to the water’s edge. It is a ten-minute car ride, from Siesta to St George’s and it’s winding streets and alleys. Try taking a local bus from Grand Anse into St George’s. Grenada’s buses are fun, cheap and speedy! They are a great way to experience the local flavour of Grenadian life. If you’re interested in night life and you like boat trips why not indulge in a Rhum Runner Night cruise? Dancing, partying, music and scenery as the night-time coastline slips by. From the Siesta we can arrange car or bicycle hire, snorkelling or diving, or point you in the direction of Fantazia – the local nightclub in Morne Rouge. They feature dancing to the Caribbean music of reggae and soca.
Do you want a holiday of rest, relaxation and sunshine? Siesta is the place! Start your day off with breakfast at our own “Le Papillion” French Creole Cafe. This is open for breakfast and lunch, and is run by the charming Kathy Ann. Her son is a chef and designed the menu. The food is French cooking but with all wonderful fresh Grenadian ingredients. Try the tasty calaloo and goat cheese quiche, or the eggs en cocotte, made with fresh calaloo. The restaurant is on a covered veranda. It is open to the balmy tropical breeze and has views over the distant mountains. Then you have a decision – laze around the hotel, swim in the pool, or amble to the beach?
A sublime day is to wander out of the Siesta and head for the beach. Outside the hotel the road is fringed with streams and here you can watch three heron species hunting for the fish that swim there. Lovely dragonflies hawk up and down. Within a few minutes’ walk you’re on the beach. Wander up the beach stopping here and there for a refreshing swim, or try out the water sports on offer. Stop off at a bar for a drink, or have lunch at the fabulous Coconut Beach Restaurant.
Siesta Hotel has many excellent restaurants close by. Here you can sample the excellent cuisine Grenada has to offer. A short walk up Morne Rouge Road you can try Grillmaster. I love to breakfast on their excellent saltfish + bakes, and other Grenadian breakfast delights. At lunch they feature excellent rotis chicken, lambie, shrimp, fish or vegetable, plus a wide choice of Caribbean dishes like curried pork, baked chicken or calaloo soup. The menu changes daily and is always delicious. A short walk from Siesta you will find the Spiceland Mall. Here there is an excellent supermarket featuring all the food produce you could need if you’re in a self-catering apartment. Also here they have a variety of “fast-food” type shops with a Grenadian/Caribbean twist! You will also find an array of clothes shops and a superb bookshop stocked with Grenada books.Try a banana, peanut and chocolate smoothie at the excellent “Native Food and Fruits” bar!
If you search the internet for “Grenada Hotels Grand Anse”, or possibly “cheap hotel St George’s”, and you find Siesta Hotel, you have found the holiday choice you need. Offering quality, help and friendliness, Siesta Hotel is ideal. Whether you’re wishing for a holiday featuring eco-tourism, hiking, water sports, nightlife, diving or simply relaxing.
As the evening draws on the hillside, trees are adorned with scintillating lights as fireflies flash their ritual messages. Sit on your balcony and listen to the evening chorus of the birds. As millions of tree frogs start up their nightly symphony, go for a late swim in our lovely swimming pool. A night swim in the Siesta swimming pool is lit by the color-changing glow of our new pool light. The multi-colored performance is a delight to both swimmers and those who simply want to look on! The digital travel magazine “Trips To Discover” rated the Siesta Hotel as one of the “7 Best Cheap Caribbean Vacations” (click this link to read their article!).
